Quantum Outpost

About Quantum Outpost

Quantum computing is leaving the lab. By 2029, every compliance-sensitive company on earth will be scrambling to rotate to post-quantum cryptography — and the developers who understand how and why will be the ones paid to lead it. This site is for those developers.

What we publish

  • 0-to-hero tutorials — long-form, code-first walkthroughs that assume you're a working engineer, not a physicist.
  • Vendor-neutral comparisons — Qiskit vs PennyLane vs Cirq, IBM vs IonQ vs Quantinuum, without corporate spin.
  • Tools — small, useful things you can drop into your own workflow. The first is an in-browser circuit playground.
  • Weekly newsletter — one tutorial, one industry move, ten minutes to read.

What we don't do

  • Regurgitate vendor marketing copy
  • Claim FTQC is five years away (or ten — we'll tell you what the roadmaps actually say)
  • Write "beginner" posts that stop at the Bell state and pretend that's enough

Who this is for

Software engineers — web, ML, systems, security — who want quantum on their resume before the hiring wave hits. And for CISOs who need to understand PQC migration before it's a compliance emergency.

Who runs Quantum Outpost

LIPAI WANG — software engineer and educator, FRM / CIA / CCSA. He has shipped native iOS, Android, web, and game projects, and previously built and ran financial software for an international trust managing roughly $410M in assets — the risk and audit background (FRM, CIA, CCSA) is exactly why the post-quantum-cryptography and compliance material here gets extra scrutiny. After 6+ years teaching online to an audience of over 100,000, he writes Quantum Outpost the way he teaches: hard topics broken into things a working engineer can actually use, and honest about what quantum delivers today versus what is still research. He also goes by William.

Every empirical claim cites a primary source, we run our own benchmark code, and we publish results whichever way the numbers point — including when quantum loses. Full details are on our editorial-independence policy.
